The Northern Men's Federation for Women's Suffrage was established by Maud Arncliffe Sennett in 1913 with the aim of organising a deputation of Scotsmen to meet the Liberal Prime Minister, Herbert Henry Asquith (1852 - 1928).
George Lansbury, a Labour MP, was an enthusiastic supporter of women's enfranchisement.
